Stem Cell Awareness Day 2010
October 6, 2010
world wide
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 marks Stem Cell Awareness Day, which brings together organizations and individuals around the world working to ensure that we realize the benefits of one of the most promising fields of science in our time. The day is a unique global opportunity to foster greater understanding about stem cell research and the range of potential applications for disease and injury.
For the millions of people around the world who suffer from incurable diseases and injury, Stem Cell Awareness Day is a day to celebrate the scientific advances made to-date and be hopeful of what is yet to come.
Research and academic institutions and educators are encouraged to participate by hosting activities and events in their community. In particular, we encourage efforts to get stem cell researchers into high school classrooms that day. For a list of Stem Cell Awareness Day activities in 2009, visit www.stemcellday.com.

Stem Cells, Development and Regulation
October 12-14, 2010
Amsterdam, Netherlands
NIRM (The Netherlands Institute for Regenerative Medicine) is an interactive consortium of Dutch scientists in the field of stem cell research and regenerative medicine. NIRM research is focussed on the biology and the molecular programming of pluripotent and adult stem cells in normal health and disease. This fundamental research program on stem cells is bridged with other NIRM research that focuses on tissue engineering and regeneration so as to provide the synergism between disciplines necessary for the advancement of regenerative medicine. Initiated by the NIRM stem cell researchers, the 4th Annual Conference on "Stem cells, Development and Regulation" is pleased to team-up with the ISSCR for this year's meeting. Together NIRM and the ISSCR aim to stimulate Dutch and European science in this important, exciting and fast-moving field of research. The conference program is designed to broaden our horizons by bringing international stem cell experts to the Netherlands, to highlight the most current discoveries in this field, and to promote scientific interaction and exchange of information between researchers at all stages of their career and across many scientific disciplines.
